The snow was fresh in Nibelheim. Cloud and Sirius had decided to move back to his home town to raise their daughter. Happy shrieks filled the air. Three-year-old Katheryn ran squealing from her father, who was grinning as he made snowballs. Throwing one, the girl giggled as it smashed against her shoulder gently.
"Daddy!"
"What is it, Kay?" Cloud asked, approaching her.
The little blonde girl came to him, raising her arms to be picked up. "Where did mommy go?"
Cloud smiled fondly at the thought of Sirius. "She went to pick up your Aunt Morghann and Uncle Reno and your cousins. She'll be back soon."
"That's a shame." a voice said from the front gate. "I was hoping to speak with Mrs. Sirius Strife."
"What do you want?" Cloud growled, tightening his arms around Katheryn. "I figured Rufus would've told you to leave us alone, Veiga."
A nasty grin spread over the dark-haired man's face. "It's just the opposite, actually, Cloud. Test subject 55690 is very important. It's time to complete what was started."
The blonde sat his daughter on the ground, telling her to go inside. When he heard the door click, he stalked toward Hojo's son. "You stay away from my family. I don't know what's so important about finishing the Jenova Project, but you won't touch my wife."
"I'll be back, Cloud, and next time subject 55690 Sirius Maelstrom or Strife will be coming with me."
Cloud watched as Veiga excused himself and disappeared down the street. He was seething with anger when he felt a gentle push in the back of his mind. Sirius sensed his emotions and was trying to calm him down. The blonde wasn't sure how long he stood out in the snow with his blood boiling, but Reno's voice soon reached him.
"Cloud, you're gonna get sick, yo. Where's Kay?"
When he didn't answer, Sirius moved in front of him, a worried look plastered on her face. "Cloud?"
"Kay's fine. I sent her in the house."
Morghann sent Sarah into the house while she balanced Dorian and Ronan on each hip. "Something must've really pissed you off to have sent Sirius racing down side streets."
"I'll explain inside, but Veiga was here."
Sirius visibly paled. "What?"
