For the heart, there is nothing like a true friend

Well, despite the MySpace bulletin I read today, I didn't see anyone I know at the Landmark, so it appears I shall be spending yet another Friday night alone. It's small surprise, but a disappointment still.

I know now the worth of having a trusted friend. A person whose company you enjoy, and who enjoys your company in return. Someone who does not hesitate to contact you upon a whim, for they know their contact is always welcome. Someone who does not run or shy away when you tell them how you care and welcome them always, even if they do not feel the same. Someone who will tell you frankly what they think of you and what you do, without fear, and will accept the same from you. Yes, I know the worth of such a friend, for I have known too well their lack.

To those few I truly and deeply love (and you will know who you are, for I have shown you and told you sincerely and at length that I love you; she, and he, and she, and she...) -- you are always welcome: in my home, to my ears and sight, or in my arms (yes, even he).

May we all open our eyes some day wide enough to know we might have such a friend.

Tonight I tend to my sorrow. My sorrow for trust failed, for misunderstandings, for fear or anger, and for love lost. Let us find the wisdom and the strength we need to reconcile what we can.
