COSC 1401 Assignment - Lisa Demorest

(Personal note, tired of LJ making all these tweaks and changes. Imbedded Blue Gillespie the other day and now my Post an Entry page won't let me get out of the HTML entry. Reminds me of the forum RPG days.)

This post, for all my friends that still read or poke around LiveJournal, is for my Introduction to Computers class in which we have to make a blog post. The actual part of the assignment reads: "Create a blog using blogger.com or wordpress.com post on the blog about being a college student and what your career goals are. Attach the link to the blog on the forum." So, here goes...

I like being a college student even though a lot of the standards and ideas on them have changed in the last few years. I don't live on campus, I love taking my courses online, and I only eat ramen on occasion... and that's when deer is on the dinner menu at home. Being near my associate's degree, I'm looking forward to moving onto a university. Although, I would to be able to claim being in university in the UK. One day I'll get there, maybe try for studying abroad or internship?

My career goals are to be a research librarian at a university with concessions to becoming a public school librarian since the Masters in Library Sciences program will have all that I need to just take my in-class time and preparation for the state boards. Building up to that I plan on also studying anthropology with possible geology if I need another back up. With information sciences being close to library sciences, mixed with anthropology, then it opens up doors in the corporate world dealing with human resources or other studies. My highest dream goal though would the research librarian in the UK. From the last poking around that I've done, books are read more across the pond and receive a lot more consumer spending than it does over here. Along with chocolate, but that is a bonus point.

Additions to the college life: Got letters to join Kappa (I don't remember the full name, the one for getting good grades in a 2-year college) and in the mail today came a letter saying I'm on the President's Honor List!
