I can't tell you how much I love the creations of John Howe! And not just his illustrations, but also his newsletter that comes out at random times. He has a wonderfully dry sense of humour, and it's always a pleasure to read. Plus it gives an interesting insight into one of the men who provided the artistic influences for Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings (yeah I know, not news to anyone probably, but hey...)

So, am just encouraging you to go take a wander at his website, and especially for a certain 'historian', who's spending their time buried in archives...
