A long and dusty road

I'm getting back into it.

David blinked in bewilderment. The sky melted into the fire orange mountain while the scrub brush danced in the afternoon heat.
This is better than the last cigarette. He thought to himself. Better than greens.
His hands were callused and dirty from moving rocks. The jeep was currently parked at the peak. Unnecessary at the moment, the vehicle stood as a forgotten monument to the return journey yet to come.

The mushrooms made David reckless. There he stood as a giant among the universe. The planets slowly revolved about him as they continued their celestial orbits.
The earth swirled slowly, emitting a faint blue aura. Most of the earth's surface is covered by water. In a tiny corner, at the tip of a continent, David stood on that earth feeling the mountain winds blowing dust and desert smells into his face. Sage. Scrub Oak. Pine. The mountain is alive in its very soul.

I want to see the world. David squinted at the sunset. I want to fall in love with a beautiful woman so deep I drown and never breathe air again. David loved to make grand gestures and grander promises. He promised himself more than anybody else. He promised he'll enjoy every minute of life as a gift. For better or for worse.
