Pratt Tomorrow

Jul 08, 2006 15:10

Tomorrow morning leave for Pratt.

I'm so nervous that I'll forget something... not really nervous about being there. But I feel like my summer's being swept away all too fast. I haven't had really any time to myself yet, which always makes me a little uptight. I haven't yet had  a day just to sit by myself in the dark in my room and just chill, which is, to my geeky self, one of my favorite things. But oh well. Many awesome things with many awesome people have happened since I got back from CA! :)

Some things that happened:

I got my SAT scores back--- 800 on my Critical Reading, a 770 on my Writing, and a 600 for Math, which equals a 2170 overall.

I had so much fun in California with Ashley! We went up to visit my grandma but Ashley flew up for a couple days to visit us, and it was awesome. We went up to San Franciso for a day, and then after she left we also went to the Alameda Country Fair for an evening, and we saw Bowling for Soup! It was SO much fun-- Mary and I went up to the back of the stands (it was an outdoor concert, with those little white benches and things that they have at fairs or theme parks, like at Sea World when you go to see the Shamu show or whatever) and just danced like dorks. You know, cause we can't really dance at all. My mom's goddaughter was there too, she's about Mary's age, and she danced with us too but I'm pretty sure she must've been amazed at how dorky we are, hehehee.  Yeah.... I'd love to live up in that Fremont/San Fran area if it wasn't such a high cost of living. Corn dogs for $3.25... seriously, man! That's crazy talk!

We got back to Virginia Wednesday night, and Thursday I went out to lunch with Dad before babysitting that night (and I got to watch DIGIMON, and then the Justice League, Superman [except that Superman was dumb so I just watched the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency instead because yes, I am a loser], and then there was BATMAN!) YESSS. "Retro" shows ROCK.

I saw the Karate Kid, Grease, and Grease 2 for the first time in CA. Apparently I'm somehow lacking in the classic movie department. But now I am properly schooled in the collective experiences of our generation.

Hmm... what else is new? Just summer AP work, which sucks... Saw the Lakehouse with Mom the other day and Superman Returns with Lu and Tina. They were both pretty good. I saw the Pirates of the Caribbean midnight showing with Kate... Mmmm, I love midnight showings. The crowd's so fun. Someone started this story around the auditorium, too, and it got pretty long--like two pages! I added the line, "We also had occasional schizophrenic episodes" because the audience was made up mostly of like 7th and 8th grade girls and a lot of them can't write worth crap and kept on mixing up their pronouns. Anyway, it amused me. :) I wasn't expecting it be good but I was still disappoined because I felt there was much wasted potential... meh. But I still love my Bill Nighy. Tina and Kim hung out with me all of Wed, and then we went to church and watched the Karate Kid (over the summer ever Wed. the church shows a movie on the big projector screen and gives us free popcorn and soda. Its fun). We basically made fun of it the entire time, but in a loving way because we love that movie. Then Alex drove Kim and I home while Tina went to check in at her house, and then Tina and Kim and I watched movies (5th Element, after which I went to bed but then they watched Grave of the Fireflies and Emperor's New Groove) all night and they slept over. The next morning Kim left at about 9, but then Tina and I played Call of Cthulu and watched Pitch Black which is probably the best movie of all time.

But. The big news. My computer fell off my bed with the power cord in it, and it got all screwed up and wouldn't charge. And it didn't have enough power for me to back anything up, either! Argh, it really sucks. I sent it in to Acer since its covered by the warranty to get it fixed, but I really hope they don't wipe the hard drive. Or else all my stories will be lost.. again. Including my crack pairing, which is, obviously, a crack pairing and pointless but which I am still really fond of. ;-; So pray, PRAY for my laptop not to be wiped! Or else I shall fall and die and there shall be much weeping and gnashing of teeth. (I did put in very friendly notes asking them not to mess with the hard drive, though, so hopefully they'll listen).

I also set up my first checking account and got some traveler's checks this morning.

So. Pratt starts tomorrow morning. If anyone wants to call me I'll have my mom's cell, and I'm sure I"ll be able to get to a computer to get e-mails (SeaCatz48@AOL.com, though I'm sure you all know that). If you want to send me snail mail the address is:

Also, subscribing to Dinosaur Comics over LJ is the best thing that ever happened to me. Now if only I could get Penny Arcade...:
