What is it about the holidays that brings out the worst in people?

I hope that's the case. I'm skeptical, though. Maybe it's just that people are in higher concentration during the holidays and therefore are stressed out as a result of lack of personal space? That's one theory of mine.

The other involves Christmas music. Don't get me wrong. I dig Jesus. I think he was a righteous dude, and I think he's worthy of a heck of a lot of praise....but man, his music sucks! And hearing those songs over and over and over again really gets on people's nerves. And then there are the people who like Christmas music and think that people who don't are horrible. And they have to listen to the Christmas-music-haters whine, and no one likes hearing people whine about things that they like, so then the Christmas-music-likers get annoyed and angry at the Christmas-music-haters, and the haters are already angry because the Christmas music is following them everywhere they go--even Mexican restaurants?!--and they can't escape. And then everyone's just mad.

Or maybe it has to do with money? I deal with all the yuppie clientelle, so I guess maybe they just get short on cash because of the holidaze and turn into even bigger jerks than they started out as.

Merry Christmas, indeed. :o) Just a few more days and no more music! Woo!
Seriously, though. I hope you have a great Christmas, man.

I don't mind the music so much - in fact, it's not Christmas unless I've heard "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" by U2 and "Blue Christmas" by Elvis (the latter of which I still haven't heard this year) but they're not exactly the standard carols. 'Course there are some Christmas songs I simply despise so I can sympathize with you.

I hope you have a great Christmas and take good care of yourself and your girl.

I think the Paul McCartney Christmas song is by far the worst....errr....except for the Barbara Striesand (sp?). You'd think Paul could write a better song than that, ya know?

But, yeah...U2 and Elvis I can't complain about. It's all the cutesy crap with bells and the blatently obnoxious tunes that would have never found the money to record were they not Christmas songs that kill me. :o)

And I will have an awsome Christmas this year. We're going up to see Sarah's family in Chicago and going up to Green Bay-ish area at some point, so I'm hoping to actually see some snow! I can't remember the last time I saw snow on Christmas, so that should be really cool. I turn into a total little kid when there's snow on the ground. It's ridiculous. Hope you and the wife and kids have a great one, too! :o)

I actually left a grocery store in the middle of a shopping trip one year because Sir Paul's travesty was playing on the PA system. I'm with you 100% on that. Have a good trip and enjoy the snow - you know her family will be looking at you like you're insane for thinking snow's fun, don't you? That should make it that much more fun for you.

nahhh... my family, despite living in chicago, LOVES playing in snow. Dring in snow to work with other idiots on the roads? no. Skiing, sledding, frolicking in general? yes.

:) She'll fit right in.

Very cool. I was under the impression that all folks from climates where snow happens a lot consider it a hassle more than a diversion.

Even if I were to move to Norway I don't think I would lose my sense of wonderment when snow falls...
