“Helena do you ever feel that you’re,” Alice pursed her lips, looking for the right word.  “Inadequate in some way?”

Helena arched an eyebrow, looking at Alice quizzically.  “What brought all this on?  You haven’t been speaking with that Devuo woman again, have you?”

“What?  No,” Alice waved her hand dismissively.  “It’s just…” She paused, switching back to a less personal track.  “You’re named after the most beautiful woman in history.  Face that launched a thousand ships and all that.  Don’t you ever feel just the tiniest bit inadequate?”  Alice scrunched up her face, holding her thumb and forefinger about an inch apart.

“No.”

“No?” Alice questioned.  “Never?”

“First of all, Helen of Troy was being judged by archaic beauty standards, standards which have changed significantly from the short plump ideals of the Ancient Greek era.”

“Okay,” Alice said, thinking about it for a moment. “And second?”

“Second?”

“Well, you said ‘first’ so that means there’s a second reason, right?”

“Ah, right.” Helena smiled.  “Second, Helen was impressing men.  Men are easy.  I’m after women; they are considerably harder, so the fact that I don’t yet have two nations warring over me is of little consequence.”

Annoyance slipped from between Alice’s lips in a huff of air.  “Fine, make fun.  I’m being serious here.”
