the approach to Lammas

Even in a life
characterised by the bizarre,
some events that are spookier than others.

Some weeks I spend time
coming to terms with these.

Others write fiction,
and we shiver;
but reassure ourselves
'it couldn't ever really happen, anyway'.

Two such things have happened for me, lately.
Unsettling.
But there is a good side.
They help to reassure us in the hour of our grief.

It's true, then;
love is stronger than death.
