A curious question,

Have you ever made a character (original) and seen someone else write or RP that character?

I have, and weirdly enough, fandom RP brings me back to this thought from years back, wondering why fandom is so much stricter about characterization and canon facts and generally detail-shit than the old-beard tabletop gamers who are pretty much the most nerdy bunch of people I've ever met in my entire life? For me it was obvious that if someone were to play a character I've designed, they'd eventually change something, right from the start even. The longest running campaign I've ever run, some nine years and counting, was one of these games where I designed the starting set of characters.

Hmn.

Speaking as a fic writer, we are set to explore, each their own area of interest, plot, personality, interaction, whatever. But the main point is that we are creating something outside the frame given to us. Gay fiction, just think about it. It's already OOC. And yet it's perfectly acceptable. So, why bother pretending to know what the creator of the character meant to have of the character? Why bother throwing a fit if someone changes few details? Honestly, why bother making a fuss if someone were to change the whole plot of the series if they're having fun writing it?

I understand the issue somewhat when rping. You are trying to fit together two visions there, not just picking and choosing whether you want to read someone's vision or not. However, I don't think I'll ever see it the way most rpers seem to view this matter. I don't mind seeing different versions of the characters. Actually I like it.

Where did all of this come from? Ah, well... I've been too much with myself lately it seems.
