I don't normally read my friend's list in the mornings because I don't have a lot of time, but I was a little early today, so I decided to read a few comments and see what's up.
But I should know better than to follow a link this early in the morning.
I followed a link from
akselav's lj to this place called worldnetdaily.com (
http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52166). You'll understand the kind of place it is when I tell you that one of their columnists is Ann Coulter. *makes gagging noise* The article in the link is about Darwinism, and how 3/4's of the American public don't believe in Darwinism. Then they go on to say they're not talking about evolution, and that the Americans are waking up and there's never been real evidence behind Darwinism anyway.
For one thing, most of the American public wouldn't understand the theory of Darwinism, even if you explained it to them. I don't get all of it, and I've read Darwin's work. For another thing, Darwinism is part of evolution (which the article says no one is arguing against -- HAH!), and you can't really separate the two theories, so far as I understand them.
Anyway, I can go on and on about the article, but that's not what made me go, "What the fuck?"
No. It was an advertisement at the bottom of the page.
An advertisment, showing an exploding nuclear bomb, that said, "NukAlert Compact Keychain! 24/7 Radiation Monitor and Alarm!"
I followed the ad (
http://www.nukalert.com/), and it's not a gimmick. It's real. They're really selling these little alarms that beep as serious amounts of radiation get closer and closer. The faster the beeps, the closer the radiation is.
Wonderful way of getting people's paranoia up, isn't it.
Or maybe this is their way of saying, "Bush is going to nuke those bastards, so be ready!"
Either way, it's just.... what the fuck?
