Today will probably be a heavy post day.

First of all, there's the outcry against the "Free Polanski" movement by these crazy people who think that a bunch of great movies and hardships like not being able to pick up his Oscar in person don't actually mitigate the fact HE DRUGGED AND RAPED A THIRTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL.

But--but--that's basically saying that being rich and famous doesn't exempt you from the law! I mean, I don't know about you, but that was my whole motivation behind getting rich and famous! Pssht. I suppose I'll just have to suck it up and become a politician, then, if they're just gonna change the rules like that. /snark

Huh, funny. I just got a message back saying "shadowravyn does not recognize the /snark function." Go fig.

Anyway, let's just review the facts of the case.

Let's keep in mind that Roman Polanski gave a 13-year-old girl a Quaalude and champagne, then raped her...let's take a moment to recall that according to the victim's grand jury testimony, Roman Polanski instructed her to get into a jacuzzi naked, refused to take her home when she begged to go, began kissing her even though she said no and asked him to stop; performed cunnilingus on her as she said no and asked him to stop; put his penis in her vagina as she said no and asked him to stop; asked if he could penetrate her anally, to which she replied, "No," then went ahead and did it anyway, until he had an orgasm.

Seriously folks, read the rest of the article here. And a grateful hat tip to londo for posting it first (to my f-list anyway).

I really can't say it better than she does. Though I do have several eloquent folks on my f-list who also take up the cry. Here is a good one. And another. He also has an older article discussing why rape is so distressingly common. Unsurprisingly, the answer is: willful ignorance.

There's even a handy quiz on whether or not people should be outraged. According to my results, my lucky number is 12, the color of my soul is green, and the answer to that question is: &^%%$#U&*^*%$ YES!

Now, not everyone agrees with this. Which mostly leaves me staring, jaw agape, at my computer screen. Though not every signature on there is a shock--Woody Allen's pretty close to the top.

Oh! Low blow! Oh wait--THIS IS MY NOT CARING FACE.

But what REALLY burns me is Whoopi Goldberg saying this is not 'rape-rape'. I am warning you now (with lots of fonts so you know I am serious): DO NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO. I was so angry I was crying. Shaking, and crying. HOW DOES DRUGGING, VAGINALLY-PENETRATING, AND THEN SODOMIZING A YOUNG GIRL--ALL WHILE SHE SAYS 'NO, STOP!' NOT COUNT AS RAPE-RAPE?!!?

That is why I'm posting this. Because it makes me sick to my stomach that people can say this. Believe this. Make excuses for it. People have suggested that she doesn't know the full details. I call bullshit. If you have pretensions of being a 'news' show (HA! AND DOUBLE HA TO THAT I SAY), you have the responsibility to make sure you know what the fuck you're talking about before you say it. If you don't, but proceed to open your damn mouth anyway, then you lose all 'but he/she didn't know all the facts' excuses.

Humanity, stop making me ill. Because I really will take the chair-leg of truth to you.

EDIT: Art Does Not Excuse Rape; a counter-petition, now exists.

i will destroy humanity, rant-tastic, linkmeister, something less stupid plz, on my high horse
