I was going to start this by explaining in minute detail the ways 2008 sucked (hospital visits, et. al) or rocked (hey, hey history!) but I decided the best way to celebrate 2008 is to give it no more attention than it deserves. Though I will say:
Congrats to
quish and
purple_dj! And thank you for allowing me to be a part of your wedding. I still feel honored and loved. Even if your preacher tried to insinuate I was preggers. At least I was in good company there.
Congrats to
kadath and
dirkcjelli!
Congrats to
katylou and
the_real_troll, and welcome Baby ~!
Congrats to
anitra and
nightskyre, and welcome Baby Claire-kins!
Congrats to

Congrats to
kittykat and
kestrel404, and welcome Baby Kyria!
Congrats to Dr.
ladyscience...we miss you!
Congrats to Dr.
hntrpyanfar!
Congrats to Dr.
dirkcjelli!
Congrats to
aliciablade for getting her MA!
All right, 2008, you may run off and play now. I'm done with you.
Here's hoping 2009 is better thsn '08. It's already started by being better...while I had a headache this morning (I place the blame squarely on the tequila shot I did in
qedrakmar's honor), it was NOT the vicious migraine I had on 01/01/08.
Let's see...a 2008 resolution retorspective:
* lose more weight--hopefully not by involuntary bulimia and forgetting to eat. This one's hard to say. I've lost weight and gained weight. Probably a fail, because I didn't do much dieting or exercise, and have been on meds that alternated between making me throw up nonstop, forget that I had a stomach, and put everything in my sight INTO MY BELLY! However, I did say hopefully (as
ddrpolaris and
doompuppy pointed out), so, umm...C?
* work out at least twice a month (hey--baby steps here!), using the equipment bought for that exact purpose. FAIL
* sex up my husband more often. I don't have numbers to compare 2007 to 2008, but probably FAIL
* finish my Nanowrimo novel; finish and post another two chapters for Silenced Memories; write at least ten more drabbles for
usako_mamoru; write 6 original short stories. FAIL
* read and review (which is the big part) 50 books during the year. Read? 60, especially since I finished several more books since my last post, including The Italian, by Ann Radcliffe, Backup, by Jim Butcher, and more journal articles than I can count. Unfortinately, only 24 got reviewed by me. So, while I reviewed less than half than I was supposed to, I read 10% more than I needed to, so I'll say I get a D.
* pay off hospital bills & reduce extraneous spending. Actually, I'm doing pretty good with this. Both of my week-long stays at the hospital are paid off, but I'm not sure about the balances of my previous bills, so I'll say...C. Getting better at saying no to impulsive buying, though.
* open an IRA. Fail.
* be a genuinely nicer person, especially to those I love. I dunno...people I love? Grade?
One-Offs
* not procrastinate on at least one medium to major assignment this semester and next. Failed for the Spring semester, did it for the Fall. Yay!
* finish my LARP in a timely fashion (in other words, not the night before). Oops. I'll count this as a half.
* Make Lunacon 51 at least as awesome as Lunacon 50. I think I succeeded on this.
* get the GG calendar finished. Umm...fail.
* Carry off my maid-of-honor duties with as much grace and poise as
ddrpolaris and
quish did. Hopefully, win!
* Catalogue all of my books. Nope. Made good headway, though. In my defense, I do have A LOT of books. B-.
* Clean my room. Hahahahahahahaha....no.
Well, that's depressing. I blame 2008 cause....it was dumb. Yeah. That's a good one.
Proving that I don't learn from past mistakes, here's 2009's resolutions! Expect to see a lot of repeats. However, now I have a better idea of what I'm more likely to do.
Ongoing Projects
*Stay out of the goddamn hospital
* Get my weight back down to 145 range. I'm slightly over 160 now, but hopefully now that I'm off the Prednisone and no longer ravenous ALL THE TIME, I can do that.
* Do some kind of strenuous physial activity once a month.
* Sex up my husband more often.
* Beat NanoWriMo this year.
* Meet one monthly writing goal posted to
dec_thru_oct * Read and review (which is the big part) 50 books during the year.
* Continue reduce extraneous spending, and make sure my new credit card doesn't carry a balance from one month to the next.
* open an IRA
* Be a genuinely nicer person, especially to those I love. Friendly teasing does not count.
* Try to make every Scion game a fun and exciting experience for my players.
One-Offs
* FINISH MY THESIS
* get the GG calendar finished
* Carry off my maid-of-honor duties with as much grace and poise as
ddrpolaris and
quish did. (Yes, I'm a maid of honor again.)
* Finish cataloguing all of my books, and catalogue any new ones within a week of purchase/receipt.
* Clean my room
Happy New Year, everyone! Going to spend the rest of today slacking off.
EDIT: I can't believe I forgot this, but...STAY OUT OF THE GOD DAMNED HOSPITAL
