The end of the summer is coming up quickly, and my bank account is dwindling quickly. I'm not working this summer (well, nothing I'm getting paid for anyway), so while money is still going out, nothing's coming in.
The mailman just arrived. I handed over two items of mail to him (including a check to Umass Memorial for $57--still paying off the hospital bill from 2005) and he hands three items to me. One if for
shogunhb, another is for
evan712, and the last is for me. From Umass Memorial. I"m reluctant to open it, cause I assume it's some kind of demand for more money, which I really just don't have. Still, bad news can't be avoided forever, so I bite the bullet and open it up.
It's about money all right. It's a check for $136! It says for overpayment--I'm assuming I overpaid one of my OTHER bills to them. Yay!
The smart thing to do would be to cash it and send it back to them to pay off more of the remaining bill. Screw smart. I'm keeping this! I've got three weddings coming up, and I'm hosting a bridal bath and a bachelorette party. I need all the money I can get!
(But I'll probably going to splurge and buy the book Self-Editing for Fiction Writers: How to Edit Yourself Into Print which was just recommended quite highly by
aliciablade.)
EDIT: Got that, Noah Lukeman's The Plot Thickens: 8 Ways to Bring Fiction to Life (his first book, The First 5 Pages was incredibly informative and helpful), and 21st Century Synonym and Antonym Finder. What?! I had to get Super Saver shipping!
Yay! Free money!
