An analogy for the artists

So would this statement be true or false?

Photoshop:GIMP::Painter:SAI

and I realize that artists are probably scratching their heads looking at that.. :)

Is this SAI program I hear so much about just a light version of Painter? What makes it so special?

I don't know anything about your colons, but I tried GIMP and it stunk on ice. ;-)

I just downloaded it to tinker with, it's pretty cool! It's very immediate and has good layer functionality, which is something I can't live without. If it works with my Cintiq I might use it for some paintings. ^^

This is the first I hear about it, so I'll check it out.

I'm usually wary of 'Lite' versions of art programs, because I'm so used to having /everything/ with the full version of Painter that it's kind of crippling (and a challenge) to use software without all the bells and whistles.
