Poor Jeff. His father is like 'Craig Taylor, the next generation'. It's good at least his mother eventually came around, after Brian's well chosen words to Mr Martin.
Gus' present is very sweet. It's true what it said on the frame. But sad nevertheless that you sometimes have to look for or get chosen by a new family to get the love and acceptance you should be getting from your own family. Both Brian and Justin could tell a lot about it. I'm glad they are there to help Jeff, even though it is from their sad, own experience.

MJ laughed, “Because you never eat carbs after seven.”

“Not on my plate.” Dad smirked.

“Ah, a new rule…I like it.” MJ snorted.
lol That made me smile. Loved it.

Thanks for the new chapter. :-)

Jeff's father is definitely a sad bigoted man, similar to Craig Taylor. It's unfortunate that there are still people like that in the world, but we know they're out there.

At least Jeff has found people who can truly empathize and love him for who he is, not who they want him to be.

I liked those moments of humor, it helps temper the angst.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback!

You should have a 'Tissue Warning' posted before entries like that one. I love it when the family rallies and shows what's truly important.
Wonderful entry;

Another new chapter! I love the Gus/Jeff moments in this story.

I looked into his eyes and smiled. Then I tried that raised eyebrow thing again, “You know you didn’t have nearly enough whipped cream on your birthday cake.”

“Oh really.”

“Really, I think we need to rectify that, don’t you.”

“Absolutely,” Then I pulled out the can I’d hidden in my drawer and place it on my nightstand. I wanted to make this a sure fire night to celebrate.

Priceless.

This was such a powerful chapter. I love that Brian stands up for Jeff, probably as a manifestation of what he wished he could have done for Justin. And of course it ends well. As all things should!

Thank you so much for that great feedback!

Yes, Brian does see this as standing up for Justin, once removed. But now he knows how to do it correctly and effectively.

oh my god! this quote is so true!! did you get it from somewhere or did you write it yourself? genius either way!

i love this new chapter...i keep coming back to this story because you have a real talent for combining the right amount of angsty bits, while off-setting them with classically comedic banter (usually involving Brian). perfectly balanced!

congrats on another successful chapter!

*hugs*

Thank you so much for those lovely words!

I wrote the quote...on behalf of Gus, I'm glad you liked it.

I try to temper any angst that I write with humor and I'm so glad that it's been consistently coming across that way.

I really appreciate your supportive feedback.

*Hugs back*
