One Day...Loved it!

I held off on watching One Day because I loved the book so much and wasn't sure the movie would be any good.

This was one of those times when a movie pleasantly surprised me. It was REALLY GOOD!

I loved the movie adaption and loved it even more after reading the author of the book did the screenplay. I thought it worked really well and cried quite a bit as I watched because I really started to care what happened to the characters...especially Dexter.

Jim Sturgess did a wonderful job as Dexter and is pretty easy on the eyes as well. He just seems to have been able to play the character like Dexter should be from the book. He has really expressive eyes and a sense of mischief to how he looks at "Emma" in the film which is perfect as perfect can be, as in "feel it in your body twinge" looks. He makes you care about a character who turns into quite a jerk for a large portion of the story.

I am never that excited about Anne Hathaway. She just seems so "vanilla milktoast" to me. She did a decent job in this film and the character Emma could be her. Awkward, dorky, and with a touch of fun to her. Her British accent was dodgy at times but the way she played the character was well-done.

I think I am going to have to put this movie on the list of films I simply must own. I am a romantic at heart like that and it appeals to that side of my personality. Plus my heart broke with Dexter in both the book and movie. It is simply amazing you can care about characters when just seeing what they are doing on one day, once a year, for 20 years.

HUGE thumbs up from me.
