I always said I wasn't going to read it until it was done. But here I am after watching a couple of eps of the show, reading the damn thing.

This shit is actually pretty great so far. Who knew? Tell me what/who you like and don't like, people who read it, please.

My favorite family, hands down, are the Starks. I could elaborate but um, spoilers. Let's just say they appeal to my bleak worldview, preference of climates, and Hufflepuff-flavored bitchiness. Ned, Jon Snow, Cat, and Arya are my favorites.

At any rate, Tyrion Lannister is another one of my favorite characters -- I want him to host a talk show -- and some of the ones I disliked at first (Jamie Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Sansa Stark) grew on me a LOT as the series went on. There are also some characters later in the books who I adore but you probably haven't been introduced to yet.

She has sometimes had my sympathy, but I don't think I'm capable of liking Cersei Lannister.

I am so pleased that people seem to like the same characters as me.

Yay! ...To be fair, I suspect my preferences are not unusual; I've heard there is a lot of hate for some of my favorite female characters, as with almost all fandoms I've been in, but there's also love, and most people seem to adore Jon and Tyrion regardless of any other preferences.

What are your favorites so far, and how far are you in reading?

Arya, Tyrion, Jon and Catelyn. And Ned, but only when he's being a dad. I'm halfway through Game of Thrones and I absolutely love that Tyrion and Catelyn had to team up like that.
