Happy Samhain!

Oct 31, 2009 16:00

Just saying, Happy Samhain (if you are so fundamentalist that you have a problem with me calling the holiday by its older name, deal....you can't spell fundamentalist without mental! *grin*)

I love this time of year. Cool days. Clouds. Colored leaves blowing in the wind. Moonlight. There's a magic in the air (literally). I love it. No wonder it's my favorite holiday.
This night I feel closer to my God and Goddess then any other time of the year (the closest other time is Beltane... odd that).

I've stocked my larder with candy for the little ones when they come around dressed as gobbos, ghosts, ghoulies, and other sundry images. I'll smile and give them their treats, knowing most don't understand what the holiday is about, but I don't mind. They are young and innocent. I'll wish the parents happy Samhain and watch them give me funny looks.

Then, later tonight, once everyone else has gone to sleep, I'll get out my atheme and do my private ceremony.

There's nothing like this time of year for me. The memories. The celebration. It's a good day to be me.
