That icon exemplifies how it felt in the Southland today. OMG SO HOT. Triple digits in these parts.
Dodgers won their division yesterday, which is fine, but we'll see if they can translate their play into the postseason like the good ole days. The main reason I made sure to turn in to yesterday's game was because it was Vin Scully's last home game call. 67 years in the booth, calling Dodger games since they were still in Brooklyn. I parents grew up listening to Vin Scully, and I grew up listening to Vin Scully. For the past several years, he hasn't been calling away games (except for Giants games), and starting this season in particular, I've gotten used to hearing the guy who will be calling all games next season. He's fine, inoffensive, but it will be very strange not to hear Uncle Vinnie for games in Dodger Stadium. I do hope New Guy will still have Orel Hershiser (my favorite Dodger ever) and/or Nomar Garciaparra in the booth with him.
World Cup of Hockey! I find it hilarious that Team Europe is surprising everyone by making it into the final. I was hoping either Europe or the children of North America would go all the way. Unfortunately, one of Europe's major scorers, Marian Gaborik was hurt in the last game and will not only miss the final, but probably won't start the regular season with the Kings, either. That probably mean curtains for Team Europe.
Kings preseason hockey starts tonight!
Looking through my userpics, I noticed several of the old iconmakers' LJs are now deleted. How sad. I loved
likefluffy's icons.
I forgot to mention (months ago) that I've picked Game of Thrones back up again. After dumping it for a few seasons, it looks like I'm back on that train until the bitter end.
Very much looking forward to the season premiere of Supergirl!
