HO HO HO, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Had to cover all the holidays I missed celebrating on LJ. Let's see, what else did I neglect to post about?

Well, in early December, I went on ye olde annual Disneyland trip. A girl wearing a Kings jersey in the next line over at the front gates saw my Kings tote bag and struck up a conversation about how the team had been doing. In the park, I saw more Kings gear than Ducks gear, which was amusing. I even saw more Canucks gear. Of course, the most well-represented fandom by far was Star Wars. The line at Hyperspace Mountain was the slowest I encountered in DL, other than the unexpectedly slow-as-molasses line at the Riverbelle Terrace. Of course when it comes to DCA, the line for Cars was absolutely glacial. But back to DL, I enjoyed the TFA additions to Star Tours. I won't give it away, but there are some videos on YouTube. And I liked the new electrical parade (though the original will always be the best and at least they threw in some references to the original music) and new fireworks (though I missed the holiday fireworks show and hope they bring it back next year). I also had to make sure to spend some time walking around Big Thunder Ranch, which is now permanently closed to make way for Star Wars Land. That area was one of my favorites in the park because you were able to make it quickly from New Orleans Square to the back of Fantasyland without having to go through the castle. And it was a quiet place you could sit and remove yourself from the fray. All of my favorite little areas in the park are disappearing. :-(

Then I promptly got a cold, which I was barely recovering from before The Force Awakens came out. I stayed just well enough to tough it through Christmas, then the cold rebounded and I had to start my recovery from scratch. But after I recovered a second time, I was able to see Star Wars twice more with my brother, once in D-Box, which was like being on Star Tours for 2 hours (never again). He is even more obsessed with that movie than I am, which is saying something because if you've been on my Tumblr, you know how obsessed I am with that movie and those precious, fresh and sweet cinnamon rolls by the names of Rey, Finn, Poe and BB-8. I just want them and Leia and Chewie to be happy!

Speaking of, I totally forgot to DVR the latest Star Wars Rebels, but I did set the replay to tape. And I DVRed Legends of Tomorrow, which will hopefully be amusing.

Christmas was quiet, and I got a laptop. More for work than for play, but if I find a dl of Photoshop, I can maybe perhaps make a few icons (anyone know any links that won't give me a virus?).

It has taken forever, but my late grandmother's home is finally cleared out and the exterior is nearly ready to be painted. After that, a few repairs inside, new paint there too, new kitchen flooring and pulling up the carpet to refinish the hardwood below, new landscaping, and the house will be ready for sale. It's been slow going and in this case we basically became house-flippers, but the end is in sight, and instead of using a pick-axe as I was this past weekend, I can start using a pen to finish the job.

And on the sports-front, my Kings are doing generally well (let's just erase that last game from our memories, shall we?) and the Australian Open is in full swing. Oh! And the Rams are returning to L.A. They were my preferred team of the two, when I was a kid, so they're welcome back. Please stay in San Diego, Chargers! Though I've always been more of a college football girl, I can't help but be tempted to see a game in that new Inglewood stadium. One of my dad's doctors has his office right down the street, so I know the way there like the back of my hand.

Last thing, I can't tell you how glad I am to see so many of my favorite authors on my flist writing Star Wars fic! You guys are awesome.
