I noticed a new Premiere Magazine on the shelves today, the November issue and there was a pretty neat collection of photographs from the Lord of the Rings set. There were also some amusing and interesting quotes from the various cast and crew. This one, in particular, tickled me:
"Did you know that Billy and Dom were homosexual lovers for most of the filming? Apparently, at the millenium party, they "discovered" each other. The noise was, allegedly, horrendous! They do spend rather a lot of screen time missing each other and emoting. Good luck to them, I say."
~Bernard Hill (King Théodon, LotR)
See? Théodon King himself says so! He was joking, of course (or is he?), but I certainly found it amusing.
It was my mother's birthday this weekend and her request was to see Friday Night Lights. She and my brother had read the book the film was based on and enjoyed it immensely. And my family loves [American] football movies. It was a great film, and Lucas Black, who also starred with Billy Bob Thorton in Sling Blade, was lovely. He's so grown-up now. The film really shows how important (almost obsessively so) high school football is in some parts in America. The same can be said of basketball in some places (think of Hoosiers). It's sad in some ways (because for some boys this is the highlight of their lives), but very exciting (because they put their all into these games). I graduated from high school over 5 years ago and I still attend my alma mater's football games. I'm not the only one who does so. There's just something about football...
