So this was Star Trek -- with its ethics and humor and soul along with the wars and Kirkisms -- not some Nemesis-like "the Fast and the Furious in space" that is a mockery of the franchise to make baby Jesus cry?
Oh, Nemesis. I prefer to forget that one ever happened. :-\
I thought this movie was oodles of fun. It had a lot of humor. Some of the funniest bits were the little things that harkened back to the original show.
It was brisk-paced, with lots of action, so in that way it was Fast and the Furious-like, though here the action actually served a purpose, didn't last too long, and was visually stunning.
That's not to say it's a perfect movie because I do have quibbles, and after reading people's reviews, I've noticed that some things that worked for some viewers didn't work for others (in fact, I'm curious about what you'll think of this Spock). But I can't be too hard on it. After all, this movie had the difficult job of introducing a slew of characters to new viewers (and they need new viewers, or it'll be hard to make more movies), while still satisfying the fans, and giving us a believable beginning to their voyage together. I think it's a great jumping off point for new adventures and the development of long-lasting friendships.
Hee, isn't it? The person I snagged it from had no idea who originally made it, but I find myself watching it over and over again. ;-)
OMG YES THIS MOVIE!!!! I didn't think it was possible, but Zach Quinto made me forget Sylar entirely. He was just SPOCK. He gets major props from me for his performance.
I have a very illogical attachment to the performances of Zachary Quinto and cannot be trusted to make capable decisions regarding him. I hereby relinquish my commission in these matters for the reason of compromising emotions.
I think The Trouble With Tribbles was right after Amok Time.
*pets all the tribbles* Did you see the DS9 ep where they traveled back in time to Trouble with Tribbles? I think we have that one on tape around here somewhere.
I'm pretty sure I did see that episode, but I only vaguely remember it. ::looks at IMDb:: Oh wow, no wonder. It first aired in 1996! I hadn't realized it was so long ago!

I was only going to bring out that gif if the movie was awesome. If I thought it was lame, I'd probably have used this one by bobrhyn:
