Dorky Emmy Red Carpet Squee

Sep 21, 2008 16:10

OMG, the cast of Dexter wins the Emmy red carpet award for MOST ADORABLE EVER. The entire cast (barring Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall, who I imagine will arrive together) came as a group! Seeing Masuka, Doakes, Rita, Harry Morgan, Angel, LaGuerta, and Lila all dolled up and smiling and laughing together is such a joy! \o/

Tricia Helfer and Olivia Wilde also looked absolutely gorgeous.

ETA 1: Okay, does anyone else think Christina Hendricks looks like a Grecian goddess? Because dude. And I see Nathan Fillion (in all black) hovering around behind her.

ETA 2:
The ladies of Dexter!

ETA 3:
OMG THE COLBERT REPORT WRITING TEAM WINS!!!

ETA 4:
Here's Christina Hendricks. Guh.

ETA 5:
Pictures of the entire cast of Dexter and Tricia Helfer and other BSG folks here. A little more Christina Hendricks. An awesome collection of pictures: Stephen Colbert, John Stewart, Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais, Paul Giamatti, Olivia Wilde, even more Christina Hendricks, etc. Stephen Colbert with his family, his Emmy and even Kanye West! Stephen Colbert on winning and Jon Stewart. TDS's Jason Jones and Stephen Colbert looking very cozy. ::wink wink:: Articles about TCR winning. Video of TCR winning. Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program is actually my favorite category at the Emmys because of the funny little videos the nominees put together to list their names, so I'm really glad TCR won that one.

TV Guide.com's Top Emmy Moments and Flight of the Conchords at the after parties. Even more pictures.

My Favorite Emmy Moments:
  • Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart talk about prunes, and both of them winning.
  • Ricky Gervais messing with Steve Carrell.
  • John Adams winning all the big ones it was nominated for. \o/ Paul Giamatti seemed really nervous, and Laura Linney's community organizing line was executed in a very classy way.
  • Recount winning stuff. ::thumbs up::
  • Josh Groban's Cartman impersonation. For the most part, I found that song & dance bit awkward and embarrassing, but I liked the COPS and South Park parts.
  • Don Rickles mentioning Kelly's Heroes, which he co-starred in with Clint Eastwood and Donald Sutherland. I love Kelly's Heroes. I actually incorporate some of Rickles' lines from that film into everyday conversation.
  • Lee Pace is so adorable, his cheeks must be pinched.
Least Favorite Emmy Moments:
  • Reality show hosts. It's something of a problem when the presenters are obviously funnier than the hosts. And cutting NPH & Cheno's bit? Two awesome Broadway people? While keeping all the reality hosts' bits? Which were nothing but tedious? This is unacceptable. This should tell them that awards shows should always be hosted by comedians, funny comedians. It's not as if they don't have choices: Conan, Stephen, Jon, Tina, Amy, Ricky, Craig, Kathy, c'mon! As a result, Emmy ratings hit an all-time low. Big surprise.
  • Most ladies wearing dresses that didn't suit their figures. There were a few standouts of awesomeness, but for the most part, I wondered who dressed these women.
  • Dexter not winning. You could tell beforehand that all the buzz was with Mad Men, so I knew they were going to win, but Dexter deserved it most, IMHO.
