The Ten Commandments is on. Oh, the melodrama! Oh, Moses, Moses! Oh dear. I really must turn the station. I can only handle so much of that movie, and only in small doses.
If you're not averse to HP time-travel fics, here's an interesting pre-OotP AU series: The Amulet of Time by
Luna the Moonmonster. There are four stories so far in the series and there might be more in the making. Harry, Hermione, Ron and Ginny are transported first to the Founders era, then the time of Grindelwald, the MWPP era and finally back to their own time, after the accidental activation of an Amulet Harry receives for his birthday.
The author takes a lot of care in dealing with all of the details and possible paradoxes that can arise from the time-travelling. And it's really rather interesting how she explains who Peeves and the Grey Lady really are, who James Potter's parents are and how they met (and what happened to them), how Snape became a really good spy, how the Order of the Phoenix was formed (since it's pre-OotP, it will be a bit different), how Harry defeated Voldemort when he was a year old, and many other issues.
The first story in the Amulet of Time series is
The Age of the Founders, followed by
Two Worlds, Two Wars, then
The Wolf and the Pelican, and with 17 chapters so far is the WIP
There and Back Again. It's a great series, well-written, with interesting plots and action and angst, and the OCs aren't cringe-worthy (which would have been disastrous. Instead, they are interesting as well).
