The Greening of My Heart

The greening of my heart is underway
roses and weeping willows gently sway
she will have her say in the reconstruction of my soul
she will have her way of making me whole
the opening of my mind is eager to find
the softest whisper of her skin on mine
like rosepetals and moon cycles blessing my fondest dreams
like the intoxicating scent of her hair blown by the winds of spring

In the greening of my heart
the art I've pieced together from shards of rain
is blown apart by her smile and put together again
such brilliant colors she's built around me
you can find me on the beach, dreaming
you can find her smile inside me, gleaming
now I'm drowning in the raging green ocean of her eyes
floating past me, the shipwrecked hearts of other guys
but I don't care
she takes me everywhere

The greening of my heart is underway
on the tip my tongue I've got so much to say
about the way she plays a symphony on my heartstrings
about the way she sways in my moondreams
she's got my heart in her coat pocket
and me hanging on her coat tails, as she pirouettes
leaving me hungry for a sweet gaze from her green apple eyes
leaving me thirsty for a spring rainfall from her wide open skies

In the greening of my heart
the deepest part of me is being reborn
from the lightest touch of her roses and thornes
in her garden, such brilliant colors and hues
you can find me there, burying my blues
you can find me there, looking for clues
as to when I found I can't live without this love
my adoration for her, it's all I've been dreaming of
she's my only care
she takes me everywhere
she's always there
tending to the greening of my heart
everyday feels like a brand new start
in the greening of my heart
