Thirteen Orphans: Breaking the Wall, Jane Lindskold
So, this is one of my favorite authors, right up there with Anne Bishop (I think I mentioned that in a previous post...and, by the way, Anne Bishop will be doing a reading/signing in the Udistrict next week and I'm really, REALLY hoping I can make it). There's a lot of references and use of mah-jong in it, but you don't have to know anything about the game to get it. It's the start of a new series and I'm really looking forward to the rest of it.
Dead and Gone, Charlaine Harris
The last, most recent of the Sookie Stackhouse novels.
Yokai Attack! Japanese Monster Survival Guide, Hiroko Yoda and Matt Alt
I'm using it as research for Remi, since it has a lot of names and descriptions of many of the creatures that exist in the story and should get a least a brief mention.
Total=3/44
In other news, just this morning I read a posting for a job I would LOVE to have and I think I'm about halfway through the cover letter already. Which is good because the cover letter is what I hate the most. The only issue I might run into with the qualifications is the 'transportation' side of things, but getting a Zipcar account should take care of that, since it didn't seem like it would be an everyday thing.
And I've had the past 2 days off, so yesterday I finally broke down and typed up all the stuff I'd handwritten and have been needing to type up. It came out to 7k, roughly. The muscles in my wrists feel a little stiff, but not in a bad way.
...And that's about it. I do have a few stories I'd like to be working on, but I don't have much of anything in the way of worldbuilding for them. And these are worlds that are going to require a bit of building. That's one reason I really want to go see Anne Bishop next week, aside from the fact that I absolutely love her work--she is a fantastic worldbuilder and I want to ask her a few questions about that. Even if I'm scheduled to close that day, I think I'll be able to either trade shifts with someone or get off a little early, since it's not until 7pm. Either way, I hope the schedule is up when I get to work.
Now, off to get some writing done (and maybe grab a little food) before I have to leave.
