He was overly suspicious of the new police chief position, and had wanted nothing to do with it. For now, he would bide his time.-

[Satoshi had only been here for a few days at most, but it was long enough for him to understand a few things. One, he'll not be leaving here any time soon. Two, the town fully seemed to expect him to adjust at once, under the threat of being one of that vacant-eyed drones. Three, everything that remained from his old life, good and bad, has now been entirely stripped away from him.

But Satoshi is strong-minded, especially without the Hinamizawa syndrome. For aboy on his first week in Mayfield, he adapted remarkably well, managing to smile and laugh his way through school. But he took to walking through the park after class. It was soothing, somehow. Reminded him of home.

...Though if he was being completely honest, it was...nice, in a way. Nice to not have to return home to an ill-tempered aunt and a weeping sister. Nice to come home to some people who smiled rather than looked upon him like he was the cause of everything wrong with the world.

It's on one of these walks that Satoshi comes across Charlie, sitting and reading. He stops nearby, awkwardly shifting from foot to foot. He's a shy boy, but he's a friendly sort who loves books. Maybe that's what prompts him to respond.]

-He finishes the sentence he had started and finally looks up to see who it was. He blinked. Well, guess someone had seen him.-

Hello. Can I help you?

Oh, ahahaha...nothing, I guess. I haven't been here very long so I just...thought I'd say hi.

[S-so awkward. He's not good at this; everyone in Hinamizawa knew everyone.]

-Taking off his glasses and setting the book aside, he looked up to the other.-

Satoshi....ah, "Jones". [That still felt weird to say.]

Umm...sorry if I was bothering you.

-Charlie observed the other quite carefully, reading his body language and catching the tone of voice used. The poor guy seemed nervous. He put his glasses back on and offered a small smile.-

... You're not a bother at all Satoshi. Are you alright?
