I stand by my original suspicion that this show would be vastly improved by Lucy Liu playing Holmes instead of Watson.

I want to like it more than I do, and I'll keep watching for the time being, but already it feels like just another procedural show, and I'm feeling sort of meh about it. :-/
Heh, I know I was rather rambly; I found it kind of hard to marshal my thoughts about this. I don't want to judge the whole show by the pilot, but then again, if the pilot isn't good, I'm not holding out much hope.
Honestly, if the main characters’ names were anything other than Holmes and Watson, I would have stopped watching after the first few minutes.
This, basically. I'm inclined to like both JLM and LL, but I don't like either of them enough that I'd watch a show just for them. And so far the show itself isn't supporting them in any way I can care about. It seems like a 'perfectly fine' show, but there are dozens of them, you know?
Yeah...I'm just hoping it improves, but I feel obliged to watch it either way, just because I feel like such a Holmes nerd nowadays. But it certainly would be easier if the writing became less tell-don't-show.
