oh, this is amazing! poor, battered harry. poor, battered boys, actually, tho in different ways. i love how you have the mirrored affect from year one and year six, and the way it goes from ron comforting harry to both of them comforting each other.

I tried to put a few 'mirrors' in there; most obviously, the bruises and scars, but also, them lying in bed together, telling secrets, talking about fears etc is a common thread that occurs in first, third, fifth and the last section. Each segment also takes place in the evening or dark hours (though I didn't really make this clear in the seventh part), hence the significance of the dawn at the end.

OMG. Such a gorgeous progression of Ron taking care of Harry and Harry taking care of him right back. I love how you write. Such gorgeous descriptive passages. And damn if I don't want to go and torture the Dursleys all over again. *sigh* just plain beautiful.

I'm really glad you liked it. I wanted it to be sort of a quiet, gentle fic exploring Ron and Harry's friendship over time. It's probably the closest to 'canon Ron' I think I've written, too. He's much more reserved in terms of physical affection than the other Rons I've written.

Thank you! I deliberately made it as Ron-centric as I could, because star54kar won it in Ron-A-Thon, and it had to be focussed on him to be eligible.

That said, I think this fic turned out very heavily focussed on Harry; a bit more than I'd intended, really. Not that that's a bad thing, of course. I liked showing moments where Harry wasn't physically there, but he was still important, like the twins deciding to rescue Harry in CoS, and Arthur offering Ron (and by default, Harry) his unquestioning support in DH. Both are canon events, we just don't get to see the detail of them, because Harry isn't there to see them. It gave me a chance to show how important Harry is to the other Weasleys, and how he really is an adopted "brother" to the other boys as well as Ron. The post-Quidditch scene in the orchard is probably one of my favourites.
