A Day in the Life...

Oct 05, 2008 22:03

It’s late, and I’m tired. I’ve made it through the marathon that is a long hectic day at work, and all the milestones of an evening with a 3-year-old: potty, dinner, bath, TV time (each of these involves at least a dozen separate steps to conquer, interspersed with many daredevil escapes).

But I’ve finally made it to bedtime.

I tuck him in, and he says, “Mommy, sing a song.”

I tell him, “No, no songs tonight”, because I’m exhausted and ready to have my quiet time before bed, and I was half asleep on the couch while he was watching the Backyardigans.

But he looks at me imploringly and says, “Mommy, please sing Baby Mine”...and a voice inside my head whispers, “how long will it last?”

The answer comes, as it always does: not long enough.

...and I begin to sing.

A bit of news...

Well, actually, I get to make it last a little longer...hubby and I are expecting our second hobbitling! He or she is due to make their arrival on March 24th. I’m 16 weeks now, and I’ll find out if it’s a boy or a girl in 2 weeks. Yay! I didn’t mean to keep it a secret this long, but things have been so busy these last few weeks that I haven’t really had time to think about spreading the news. I’ll be happy whatever we’re having, but this time I’m really hoping for a girl. We’ll see...
