Let me tell you this: if you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, it's not because they enjoy solitude. It's because they have tried to blend into the world before, and people continue to disappoint them.
Summertime, I think, is a collective unconscious. We all remember the notes that made up the song of the ice cream man; we all know what it feels like to brand our thighs on a playground slide that's heated up like a knife in a fire; we all have lain on our backs with our eyes closed and our hearts beating across the surface of our lids, hoping that this day will stretch just a little longer than the last one, when in fact it's all going in the other direction.
Life sometimes gets so bogged down in the details, you forget you are living it. There is always another appointment to be met, another bill to pay, another symptom presenting, another uneventful day to be notched onto the wooden wall. We have synchronized our watches, studied our calendars, existed in minutes, and completely forgotten to step back and see what we've accomplished.
A bunch of quotes from My Sister's Keeper, which I just finished. It's so good--except for the bullshit wtf BULL FUCKING SHIT ending. I was like GOD FUCKING DAMN WHY DID YOU RUIN EVERYTHING WHAAAAAT. So. Yeah. I NEED MORE BOOKS NOW. I trolled around Memory Beta to look to see how many books I need from the TNG relaunch series to understand the Destiny miniseries. Um. There are five relaunch (as in post-Nemesis) books that come before it that all seem to connect, then there's the TNG sequel that's out, along with a few other sequels of other series that will come out, but we'll see how interested I am. These follow the plot points that come up in the A Time To... miniseries, which is a series of books of what happened in the year prior to Nemesis. There's Articles of the Federation, which...I think the other books are connected to it, if only due to the administration it talks about, but let's face it, I've always wanted to read it anyway. Then there are the Titan books that I might want to pick up just so that I know who's who on the freaking Titan.
So basically I'm looking at, including Destiny, 8 books. Of course, I also want to pick up some manga and see about more Dresden books. I'm still missing six of them. XD AND still need to find Time Traveler's Wife, which I may see if I can't get from a library instead, but I'll probably buy it anyway.
