Thank you, BSG, for showing us how not to do a penultimate episode. Can I have that last hour back? I need that for something more useful, like sleep.

Like the sleep I need before getting up at 8 to watch TFA. Which had better be frakking awesome.

I mean...okay. There were interesting things in the episode, but, um, nothing connecting and nothing that makes sense.

I wish we knew how long before the attack it was. I was like ZOMG! at Kara having dated Lee's brother (and, more importantly, cooking and being awkward--who knew that was Kara frakking Thrace?). I loved Laura just because she was so the opposite of presidential (and her hair was goooorgeous~). I felt emotion at Gaius interacting with his father (so being an uncaring asshole runs in the family! but I still felt for Gaius--yeah, I know, weird, huh?). Sam's bit was cool just because it sounded kinda Cylon-ish somehow, and it also connected to his very next scene.

No idea WTF was going on with Lee stumbling into his open home and shooing birds out. It only made me think of Ducky in that one NCIS episode about how if a bird flies into your home (or was it through your chimney?) someone in the home is gonna die. *shrugs* Whatever that was all about.

Also no idea WTF was with Laura in the fountain or WTF was with the dating someone who sounded familiar to her? I don't recall the name; were we supposed to know it from somewhere?

But this is my point. It all looks pretty, and it's interesting, but none of it, as far as I could see, served a point. None of it seemed to mean anything; it seemed more like an afterthought, a 'you know, why don't we see how everyone was way before the attacks' kind of thing. (Also, WTF at Adama? What was it about? Was it about Galactica being put in mothballs? No idea.)

And sadly, the rest of the episode that took place in present time was boring. Yes, even the mission. The random mission out of nowhere.

I mean, you knew the old man believed somewhere down in there. And since he knew if he did this, Laura would come with, he knew he had nothing left to live for, really. But, I don't know, it all felt...like nothing. Even the part at the Colony (which still looks like a nightmare straight out of the darkest depths of B5) was...nothing.

So, really, I hope Gaius decided to cross the line. Like, really. Because I like him; I've always liked him. And to be honest, I think he has been more honest about believing and wanting to help. And, hi, Caprica's over there, and, hi, you'd be able to say the one selfless thing you've done to Lee. I really hope he's there.

LULZ BLACK HOLE WITH ONE WAY IN WITH ALL THE GUNS LOCKED, LOADED, AND POINTED AT YOU. YEAH. THAT'S A BRILLIANT PLAN. I feel almost bad that when they were talking about being in orbit of the black frakking hole, I kept thinking of Doctor Who. Hello, impossible planet! ARE WE GOING TO SEE THE LITERAL DEVIL?

Oh, OOOH! But I DID like the scene in the memorial hallway! Only it didn't go where I expected it to. I kind of had hoped Adama would start collecting the photos of the forgotten that nobody knew who they were anymore. So what could've been, to me, a thoughtful, extremely emotional part just ended up being...blah.

In short, no idea what they were going for; might've been better if it didn't seem like a jumbled, random mess; had interesting parts but was mostly boring. WTF Galactica? WTF.
