ETA: The roommates have decided that they're not moving, after all, and that I get to be the one tossed out on my ass. So I'm still looking for new roommates... just not in this house.
Remember how I said Roommate A was pregnant and they were planning to move in October, after the baby was born? Yeah. It's possible that timeframe might get moved up by... several months. So this is an info post for anyone might be interested in moving in with me.
So if you know somebody who's looking for a roommate in the Twin Cities, send them my way!
The Story
Right now, I’m living with a young married couple. They’re fabulous, we get on great, everything’s peachy. BUT, back in November, they discovered that they are soon to have their own little clone running around. The baby’s due at the beginning of July, and their original plan was to wait and move some time next fall, which gave me plenty of time to find replacement roommates. Now, they’re thinking they’d like to move sooner, in April or May, so I’m putting out feelers to see if I can find some folks to come share this gorgeous house with me.
About The House
It’s a split level Victorian, ca. 1880, in South Minneapolis right between Midtown and Uptown. We’re right off 35W, so the traffic is a little noisy, but the neighborhood is very low-key and all the cool stuff in Uptown is hardly more than walking distance. The Best Landlady Ever lives on the first floor of the house, and our apartment is the second floor and the attic (which is actually a bedroom).
The basic breakdown is:
3 bedrooms
1 bath
Dining room
Living room
Full kitchen + breakfast nook
Washer and dryer
Trash/Recycling street pick-up
Street parking (free)
Fenced-in yard
Pet-friendly
If you’re thinking that one bathroom sounds a little crowded for three people... it is. To be fair, though, the bathroom is massive. Like, it’s probably the size of the two smaller bedrooms put together. Jostling for the sink can be fun, but there’s plenty of space to dance around each other.
The kitchen is huge and great, with lots of cabinets and racks and things. Gas stove, hand-made butcher’s block. Perfect space for a foody. The only thing the kitchen doesn’t have is a dishwasher. This is something you get used to.
There’s no central AC, so the house can get a bit stuffy in the summer, but in the winter it’s toastier than a... toaster... oven. Metaphors aren’t working for me, today.
To make this work, financially, I need two roommates. So couples, siblings, and other duos are welcome, though lone wolves are not to be discouraged!
I can provide pics and more details, including rent and such, to anybody who’s interested.

This is the important part, right? I mean, what’s the point in finding a great apartment if your roommate is an axe murderer?
