blog: Much to do!

May 19, 2011 14:52

Feeling a bit better, but still kind of blah. Still taking drabble requests (did a lovely Doctor/TARDIS one for
haru_mania) as my writing muscles still need a workout. Packing, sewing, looking for jobs, catching up on Fringe. Not much to report. Mostly, I just need to clear out a bunch of tabs, so have some links!

1. You know that participatory culture thing I'm always talking about that no one has ever heard of? Here's a puppet to tell you what it means. And here's two awesome and lolarious examples:

1a. The director of the Resident Evil movies uses professional gamers for inspiration. Okay, so that's only vaguely related to participatory culture, but it's the definition of transmedia.

1b. This picture of the X-Muppets, on the other hand, is transformative art at its finest.

2. The CDC wants to make sure you're prepared for the zombie apocalypse.

3. In defiance of conservative rhetoric, census data shows that people are getting married later and staying married longer.

4. The Curse of the Buxom Strumpet may be the most awesome movie ever as it stars Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellan, and Agent Scully herself Gillian Anderson. If that's not enough to pique your interest, you should also know that it's a period comedy about... zombies.

5. Everybody remembers Vital Information, right? Upon revisiting this comedy relic from my childhood, I begin to think that shows like this are the reason so many of my generation grew up with such a bizarre sense of humor.
