Surveys and Sci-Fi and Activism, oh my!

Sep 20, 2010 20:41

1. Another academic needs your answers! lyo is doing a study on women in fandom (the parameters aren't clear) and she needs fans to fill out a survey. Go! Assist in her quest for knowledge!

2. Speaking of fans and things we're fans of, io9 has a guide to this weeks Sci-Fi television. AMC movie marathon tomorrow and, best of all, new Supernatural Friday at 8pm.

3. Also on the subject of things we like to watch, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are planning rival political rallies, both to take place on the National Mall at the same time. I have never, until now, wished to live in DC.

4. The best news for the day, though, is that 4chan users brought down the MPAA website in retaliation for its attacks on movie piracy. The article is... biased.

4a. Whatever your feelings about 4chan and/or movie "piracy", I'm of the opinion that the Anonymous movement is a prototype for the kind of action necessary to enact significant social change in American society. But you probably could have figured that out.
