Princess Serenity of the moon fell in love with Prince Endymion of earth, as in canon. Jealous of Endymion, a lady of the earth court, Beryl, took Metallia’s power and started a war. Serenity was her main target, so she captured the inner senshi and brainwashed them, thinking that leaving her without her guardians would make her more helpless. Endymion took the shitennou and went to the moon after Beryl had captured his kingdom, to protect Serenity. During the final battle, Beryl and the senshi attacked the palace on the moon personally. The senshi faced off against the shitennou, who had formerly been their lovers, as Beryl herself attacked Endymion and the princess Serenity. In the end, the senshi and the shitennou killed each other while Beryl killed first Endymion, then Serenity. The Queen Serenity then used the ginzuishou to banish Beryl to a separate dimension and to send her daughter, Endymion, the senshi, and the shitennou to be reborn in the future.
After being reborn, the inner senshi were awakened at an early age, by the presence of youma sent by Beryl. Still brainwashed from their former life, they remembered the past in that light and vowed to support Beryl to her attempts to regain the prince Endymion and the kingdom of earth. The senshi began to gather energy from humans, which prompted the awakening of Sailor Moon and the shitennou.
Venus is the leader of the senshi. Since they awakened, she and Mars have become lovers in the absence of their former lovers, Kunzite and Jadeite. She believes that Endymion and Beryl were engaged and Serenity brainwashed not only the shitennou, but the prince as well. She also believes that Serenity is the one who started the war, and so blames her for the destruction of the earth and moon kingdoms.
At that point in her history, all of the shitennou have been awakened. The rainbow crystals had been found and at one point resided in both the hands of the senshi and the shitennou. Both sides were unaware of each others' civilian identities. Then- something changed.
Venus found herself in a nexus of sorts, one that connected her world to many other parallel worlds. Through this nexus, she discovered the possible outcome of the future, as well as Sailor Moon's identity, and used it to her advantage. She began to lead the senshi into a full-scale affront against Tsukino Usagi. She stole the Luna Disguise Pen and kidnapped and tortured Artemis, using the information she obtained from him to disguise herself as Usagi and take the rainbow crystals from Mamoru. Unfortunately, even with all seven crystals in their hands, they still could not bring forth the ginzuishou.
The senshi now work together on the next plot against their enemy, Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask, and the shitennou. What will come of it- no body knows.
