If he says, "I love you" with polish and aplomb, will I believe him? But if his words stagger out, perhaps, and he finds it hard to speak clearly, then certainly he must be sincere. But perhaps he knows this -- perhaps he is putting on this charming diffidence. How can I get him to express himself honestly, and be sure that he is not endeavoring to create an appearance?
