The semester's begun and I'm still trying to organize myself. I didn't really need to buy any new school supplies, which made me sad. The good thing is I saved a bunch of money (for myself & my mother) because two people lent me their textbooks, meaning I only needed to purchase/rent one book for Ecology. Last semester, Chegg.com proved to be a great site for renting books and for a somewhat decent price. I saved $84 AND planted a tree somewhere in the world. A screen popped up asking where I wanted to plant it, but I exed out the box by mistake. I was going to order it through FIU's new rental service, but I was hesitant and tired of giving FIU my money. They have enough of it. As for the money saved, I have been looking for a new pencil bag and I found some really appealing bags on Etsy. They are extremely over priced, but I understand that they're hand-sewn and that the sellers usually depend on their items for income.
Yesterday, it was Stephen's 14th birthday. He's getting old and his taste in friends is disappointing. Pamela and I chaperoned and paid for their tickets. Not only did they leave without thanking us, but they also wanted us to just leave them there, unsupervised, with slutty girls. I think I cared too much about the situation, but irresponsible parents are the cause and it pisses me off. There was a little boy that could not have been older than 6 who screamed out "You're a pussy!" I was so disgusted.
On the bright side, I contacted the graduate department of Civil Engineering at FIU to inquire about how my mom can FINALLY get licensed as a civil engineer here in the US. She obtained her degree so long ago and I know she really loved it. Why give it up and live financially constrained when you have a fully functional degree?! I found out she only has to take two exams and she's all done! Every time she takes an exam these days (mortgage broker license, real estate license, anything really), she always passes with a 98 or a 96. I'm jealous, really. Its time for her to enjoy her work and get paid a lot more. She honestly deserves that and much more. It's her birthday on thursday and I was thinking of getting her a clothes steamer. We both despise having to iron and I've been searching for one anyway.
I'll do a goals for this year post later. I have to go return some things at the mall (overdue!).
