just the wall was left today. blank. as if scaling a ledge with too many appendages knitting one rope. no, as if constructing towers with suspension bridges. the itsy bitsy spider. i realized i had even lost the will to be repulsed by it or irritated that it was testing the grounds for a new home in my territory. i couldn't even muster the desire to kill it.
i don't mind the ones that build homes - so long as they keep them clean. i dislike the ones that secret themselves away in dark holes and spring out at whatever happens to wander near. when i was small it was usually those ones you were taught to fear as they had no hesitations about pulling you into the darkness with them. virulence was just the expression closest to nature.
but just now i live in a land where spiders and serpents alike are docile and impotent.
so i can no longer face my opponent on equal ground.
