*sigh* I really do wish I was more active on here. Most of my long and thoughful posts came from when I was working at Comfort Suites and had access to a computer at work. I need that ability again! Every few months I tell myself I should buy a laptop but I never seem to get around to it, heh. I think I'll go ahead and remind myself again that I was wanting to do that!

I am drowning in presidential politics!! Partially thanks to the writer's strike combined with my own laziness when it comes to finding my remote, I am watching unhealthy amounts of cable news. I not only watch unhealthy amounts of cable news.... but I watch it full well knowing that it is CRAP. I can't help it... it's like watching those VHI top 100 shows, or a Saved By the Bell rerun that I've seen 800 times, I am comforted by familiar TV.

It's hard to figure out where to start with what I think of all the candidates so far. Who I would vote for at this point really doesn't matter, because Florida's democratic primary has been pretty much declared worthless, and I couldn't vote in the republican primary even if I wanted to just for shits because in Florida you can only vote in your party's primary. Even so, I definitely know who I like and don't like.... I just have to hope that decent candidates actually make it to the general.....and yes, I say candidateS because I am not automatically voting for whoever the democratic nominee is, as much as it might pain a few ears to hear me say that. Anyways, here's a rundown of how I feel about everyone so far..... both sides. (I am leaving out the people who I see as having NO chance of winning)

Hillary Clinton - I am extremely mixed about her. Honestly my main concern isn't about her and what she would do if she were president.... but rather that she and Bill are essentially to republicans what George Bush is to non-republicans. They DESPISE her. They dedicate entire radio shows and publications to trashing her (Some of it's true, some of it's bullshit. Hey, nobody's perfect). Hating the Clintons is a WAY OF LIFE for some people. If she were to win the democratic nomination (and that looks pretty likely), I worry about two things. The first one is that if a less divisive republican candidate (let's say John McCain) ran against her in the general, I really do think he would beat her. If she actually managed to win and became president, she would continue this cycle of ultra-divisive politics.... and all the crazy fucknuts who gave us Bush would be back in 2012, delivering onto us someone even crazier as retribution.

Barack Obama - There aren't many differences between him and Hillary Clinton policy wise from what I understand. But Obama, unlike Clinton, isn't a divisive figure. He is great at spewing out meaningless but inspiring bullshit, which though it may sound like I'm belittling such an ability, is actually really nice to have. I think he'd make a great figurehead for people to get behind (they're sheep anyway).... and I think he'd do alot to repair the rest of the world's opinion of the US.

John Edwards - For the life of me, I can't figure out why he doesn't do better in elections. He fits the exact profile of a democratic president. He's from the south, he's moderate on social issues, and he comes from "humble beginnings". The only thing I can think of is that people don't take him seriously cause he looks like he's 12. Poor guy >< ..... in all seriousness though, I like him. I honestly think he has the thickest skin out of the democratic candidates, and says alot of shit that the others won't.

Mitt Romney - In one word: Whore. I've never seen such an obvious panderer. He will tell anybody anything they want to hear. He is exactly what everyone accused John Kerry of being in 2004. With that said..... I give him credit for a few things. He is sharp as hell... I don't question his capability to intelligently solve problems. His resume IS actually pretty impressive. But of course my problem with him lies in personal philosophy (Or at least, the personal philosophy that he claims to have now). Out of the republicans, he would not be the last one I'd want to see in the white house..... but not the first either.

John McCain - One of the harder republicans to hate, but where it counts there just really isn't a whole lot I agree with the guy on. He wanted more troops in Iraq from the beginning.... which I agree is a better way to FIGHT it, but of course that's sorta moot when you don't even think we should've been there in the first place. I respect what the guy has been through, and I appreciate his outspoken denouncement of torture, but he just seems a little too trigger happy for my taste. If any of the candidates were going to actually attack Iran, I would bet my left nut that John McCain would be the one to do it.

Rudy Guiliani - Tough one. On one hand, he's the only republican who is actually somewhat liberal on social issues. This gives him big points for me. On the other hand.... he's another trigger happy warmonger who'll probably take us into Iran. You know what? It doesn't matter... he isn't going to get nominated.

Mike Huckabee - He is sort of the anti-Giuliani. Socially conservative, but more liberal when it comes to foreign policy. I give him credit that I think he is less of a hypocrite than your average religious right candidate. The problem is.... he's still a religious right candidate. The more I learn about this guy the less I like him. He would be a giant threat to the idea of separation of church and state..... way more than George Bush ever was. He is probably the LAST candidate I would want to see in the white house.

Sooo here's where I stand at the moment. If Obama or Edwards were to win the democratic nomination, I will vote for them in the general. If Clinton wins, I'm going for an independent or 3rd party candidate. Maybe Nader will run again... woooo! *Gets pumped*
