I really don't know all that much about these yet, but tonight I took the new Inscription profession on the deathknight, which product fills those glyph circles there. Herbalism is the associated gathering profession, so I spent a while running around Mulgore picking flowers, too. As I have only just levelled Inscription to 75, there's not a whole lot I can say about it yet (I haven't been able to make glyphs yet -- I picked up the first recipes at 75, but I didn't have the herbs to make the pigments for the inks). You're making scrolls at first, and I imagine you'll continue to throughout the profession; the usual scrolls of intellect, stamina, etc, plus a handy one at 25: a scroll of recall. Now, while this has the same "home" setting as your hearthstone, it only has a 15 minute cooldown ... and it stacks in 20s.
More as I get it levelled further in. There was also an interesting parchment I saw, although I don't think I can test it out yet, unless I take insription on one of the other toons, or get some of the dk's gear enchanted...
