i where i have been....
It seems i have not posted since april 30th. bad bad marcus.... Well everything that`s happened since then? I broke up with my girlfriend of the time. I have been on 2 deployments. I went to korea twice. Nothing interesting about that except i bought my tobacco pipe there (which i`m smoking now). I went to shang hi china. It was definitely one of the weirdest places that i have ever been. It is one of China`s experimental cities that has a capitalist economy with the same commie government of all of china. It was billed to us as a big tourist city and it is. None of the cab drivers spoke english though.... oh well their country their rules. I spent my first night at hooters(i like their wings) and a jazz club. My friends and I loved the jazz club (the cotton club)so much that we went there every day. Imagine that.... a high class jazz club in the middle of communist china.
Anyway the weirdest place i went was to Vladivostok Russia. What made it so weird? The people were both friendly and racist. They went out of their way to say hi but you could still get the feeling they despise you if you weren`t white (sometimes ever if you were a white non-russian).I was cursed at right outside of the gate by an old russian lady for being either american or black (or both) . All if the friendly russians recommended we eat at the foreign restaurants instead of trying the local stuff. They served warm beer.
It wasn`t all bad though. The first day almost everyone onboard my ship had to go to a mandatory russian folk dance show that was made by their pacific fleet. We all prepared to be bored out of our minds only to find that their songs and dance were all about navy life and all navies have a lot in common. Also while standing the watch that i was cursed at on for no reason i received many gifts from people just passing by because i let them take pictures of me. It was the first time many of them have seen either an american or black man (or both) before. I almost got laid by some russian college girls (by the way their girls are hot , why do you thing there are so many russian mail order bride websites). They just sort of snuck up on me and my friend and started to take us to their place but then thought better of it.... oh well. Their are probably other things that happened but this is long enough as it is so i`ll say bye
