Summary: John loves him some Jack.
Some would claim John had an addictive personality, all the rehab he had been through. John would point out that he had long since kicked the rehab habit - it was for quitters, anyway - and then shoot whoever had said it. Or shag them, if they were gorgeous and he had time to kill.
His real problem is that there’s no rehab or programme for people addicted to “Captain Jack Harkness” as he’s calling himself these days. No support group for when he turns around and tells you in no uncertain terms to fuck off his turf.
This particular time and place - Cardiff, 1941 - he's in luck.
“I’m Captain Jack Harkness, 133rd Squadron.”
Well, shit. He even looks vaguely like him; ancient Hollywood handsome, dark hair and practically made to fill a uniform. Seducing him proves somewhat more difficult, though. So repressed, so hesitant - it’s quite depressing. But once they get into the swing of things… so very eager and so very needy.
But of course, he eventually ends up back in Cardiff and he winds up in a fight with his Jack, accompanied by the “you’re so pathetic” speech.
And suddenly he knows where it will really hurt.
“Y’know, I stopped off in 1941 not long ago, found another Captain Jack Harkness. Not too different from you, really; good lay, but desperate.”
John loved him years ago, but that mix of pain, shock and fury merging together on his face - that’s what John’s really missed.
