Serenity

Just got back from the mall where I finally, after several months of angonizing waiting, saw the final cut of Serenity! It was the 4pm showing (second one of the day), so the theater was far from packed, but I did spy one Jayne hat down in front (will probably where mine, along with my Blue Sun t-shirt next time around). Andrea and Greg were already in line for the next showing at 7:20p when we got out. Word has it attendance should be way up the rest of the night.

Even after a second time, it was still an awesome movie! It was not all that different that the version I saw in Hartford this summer, although that was pretty close to done by that point. Think there may have been more shots of the reavers before.

I was at one point quoted as saying that "I have never been as emotionally attached to a set of characters as I am the crew of Serenity". As if to prove this true, I once again became choked up after Wash's tragic and sudden death, as well as the crew's final stand against the reavers. There was some satifaction - in knowing I'm not alone - to hear the gasp from the crowd as they witnessed the scene for the first time.

While I already know for a fact I will again be viewing this movie in the theater (at least twice more I'm sure)(and yes, my love and loyalty for Firefly is such that I will endure the reaver-like raping of full ticket prices), I now yern for the next phase - its release on DVD. I'm trying not to entertain the possibilities of making it a trilogy just yet. And hey, if they brought the Family Guy back to Fox, there is still hope of seeing Firefly back on television too!
