Over three months in the making...I've finally got a tattoo. Met Dan Dzambia at his house after work tonight and we headed out to get ourselves the tattoos we sought after in Las Vegas. We spent the evening driving back and forth between Rennselaer and Albany counties. Our initial destination was Primal Graphics on Central Ave. Unfortunately, the guy was booked for the night. We tried a place in East Greenbush that Dan knew of, but it was going to be a two hour wait. Determined to get our tattoos tonight (as Dan would not have the extra cash by the end of the weekend if we didn't), we tried Lark Tattoo, aptly located on Lark Street.
Mine was a simple design - the Eye of Thoth on my left leg - and they were able to fit me in right then. The experience only took about fifteen or twenty minutes. I was expecting more of a sensation of pin pricks or piercing than the agonizing burning. It was uncomfortable, to say the least, but not unbearable. It felt no worse than having skinned my leg when T-Bone was done.
Dan's Celtic cross was going to take longer so we arranged to come back around 8:30p after another appointment they had scheduled. We grabbed dinner at Bombers to pass the time. I had an hour to browse the various sketches and art work they had archived while Dan took his turn in the chair. Most of it fell into the category of either fairies, butterflies, and flowers or skulls, flames, and demons. I enjoyed looking at it from an imaginative gamer perspective than with any consideration of having it scribed into my flesh.
It was something different, to spend an evening socializing with a co-worker outside of the office. Dan and I had fun and I'd certainly be willing to do it again. I've some ideas of what I'd consider getting and where - including the Eye of Ra on the opposite leg - but for now I'm ready to enjoy this one.
