It took me a while, but I think I finally figured out how to describe the way the new psychic readings commercial I've been seeing on television today has been bothering me. It's not your typical psychic phone reading ad. It feels more like a serious and somewhat dated commercial for a law firm. It's a guy wearing a plain tan suit in an office. He tells me how the word psychic means, "of the soul," and that my reading should be a deep and meaningful experience. Even the concluding, "Call for your psychic reading," could have once been, "If you've been injured, call now." It's not hokey or laughable like Miss Cleo or the Psychic Friends Network cause it's so damn serious - like the guy has a PhD. in psychic readings or something. I'm not even sure if there was a disclaimer about it being "for entertainment purposes only." Then again, I've been too distracted to remember to look for it. I wonder what sort of buzz, if any, this will get.
