The Mess 'O' Monuments...

Jul 19, 2009 20:36

I'll just keep it short today.

We saw:

The Lincoln Memorial
The Washington Monument (didn't get to go up the monument though)
The WWII Memorial
The Korean War Memorial
The Vietnam Memorial
The Department of State
The Department of Treasury
The Ever-Famous Reflecting Pool
The White House AND
The Presidential Helicopter flying overhead...

Other cool sidenote, found my great-grandfather's very abbreviated army record in the WWII memorial's honoree list. And of course my Uncle Gary donated the papers to put his name on said list. Just thought that was cool.

Tomorrow is the Air and Space Museum, and it should be insane since tomorrow's the 40th anniversary of the moon landing. But it's our last day so we want to get as much in as we can. Might as well do it on an exciting day. We're also planning on going to see Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian, since we saw so many displays that are going to be in the movie. Plus, Amy Adams as Amelia Earhart. Big fun.

We leave to head back to Bama early the next morning, followed by a few days of relaxation and then our short trip to Orlando. Then it's back to B-Ham for Parker-Bean's Birthday, and then back to NOLA again. We haven't bought our return tickets to Seattle yet, so we might stay for an extra day or two.

Got a message from my soon-to-be boss (father of the little girl I'll be sitting full-time). His wife unfortunately was in a car accident, but no major damage, only a fractured arm. They're pushing back their flight to the states though, nothing majorly upsetting my work schedule. Jessep and I may even meet them at the airport.

That's all for tonight folks. Good night... and good luck.
