Minor Update

Man, I haven't posted here in forever. I don't even know why I haven't. Guess I just...needed an extended vacation from stuff. Maybe. I dunno.

Anyway, here's a quick update on my life! Still married. I'm in college now, and have been for a couple semesters now. I'm going to be an elementary school teacher. Beyond that, honestly...not much is going on, or has been going on. Well, their was a stint where the military thought I was AWOL and had a warrant out for my arrest, so I had to go to Colorado to clear it up. Took damn near half a year, though in the end I got re-discharged honorably instead of medically, and I got to re-use all of my benefits, which was...weird, but very useful. I got an official diagnosis of PTSD out of it all, so I take pills now. Whee, right? I'm craaaAAAAaaaazy.

Oh, we got a dog recently. She's apparently a blackmouth cur (cur meaning mutt, if anybody's curious), and she's in obedience training 'cause she's pretty crazy, herself. Her name is Jessie. She's pretty sweet, but she doesn't get along too well with our cat, Zoey. Jessie wants to play with Zoey, but Zoey pops her upside the head every chance she gets. It's actually pretty funny to watch.

I just remembered something interesting to share! My wife and I, Patti, currently live with her sister and her husband, and their two daughters. Next month, her sister is going to jail for stealing from her previous job, for several months. Like 9 or something. During this time, her kids will be signed over to Patti and myself, because the brother-in-law is quite possibly the only person in existence that I can honestly say that I hate. I'll tell you while shortly. Anyway, this is going to be a very, very interesting time. Patti and I have no kids of our own, the father of the youngest girl (the father of the oldest girl essentially abandoned them ages ago) is incompetent and bipolar, and oh, they have two dogs, too. So, we're about to have one hell of a load on our plates very soon. Should be...interesting.

The reason why I absolutely cannot stand my brother-in-law is because he's a pothead that has no job, spends all of his time smoking said pot, is asleep when he's not smoking, and the icing on the cake is that he's beat his wife before. Do you remember when I said earlier that I had to go to Colorado to clear up that AWOL warrant? Well, that happened because I stopped my brother-in-law from doing any serious harm to his wife. The cops got called, ran my name, and the warrant popped up. Just another reason to hate the man. What's worse is that his ass got off completely free. Why? Because his wife didn't press charges, and asked me not to as well. The ONLY reason I agreed was because I lived in the same house as them and now the brother-in-law knew that I could take him. While my mere presence has caused him to not strike her again since that incident, he's still worthless in all the other ways.

Fortunately, the eldest daughter, who is 16, is aware of how worthless he is and wishes he would just go away. The youngest, who is 8 and is his biological daughter, foolishly loves him because she's not old enough to understand how awful of a person he is. It really breaks my heart to know that her future is essentially fucked because of his influence. I do everything I can do be a positive male role model for her, but it's not enough. She becomes more and more like him every year.

So, as for current events, we have an infestation of cats in our neighborhood. I'm not even exaggerating. They literally line the streets at night. Animal Control's only driver recently got fired because the idiot HIT A DOG WITH HIS TRUCK AND DROVE OFF. So, Patti contacted them yesterday. They gave her a single trap (a cage). Last night, before she went to bed, she put a bowl of cat food in the thing. When I went to walk the dog 45 minutes ago, their was a cat in it already...and my heart seriously shattered into a million pieces. While I 100% agree that these cats need to be picked up and taken to shelters so they can stop starving and multiplying, seeing that cat stuck in that cage, meowing helplessly, though completely unharmed, I just wanted to perform a kitty jail break and let it go. It took everything I had to just walk away. It really didn't help that it was one of the cats that I liked to love on and feed. Anyway, changing subjects, 'cause it's a really sad chain of thought.

Actually, it's almost 7 AM now and I seriously need to take my pills and crash. So, have a good one, folks!
