It was just a nickname. But it was a stupid nickname, and George hated it. Hated the way Alex just used it all the time. He wasn’t some poor defenceless deer whose mother had died and left him to fend for himself. He was a grown man. He was perfectly capable of looking after himself.
But it was Alex.
So when George asked the other doctor to stop calling him Bambi; told him that he didn’t like it, because it just wasn’t him, and Alex actually stopped, he’d been surprised.
But he was even more surprised that he missed it.
